When is the last time you visited #LibbieMark ‘s website? (Part 2, blizzard delay edition)We have just launched exciting website upgrades that give you new ways to explore Libbie’s artworks. Libbie’s site now features 144 standalone pages, one for each of her paintings and works on paper documented so far. The new artwork pages feature fascinating background information and visual analysis of selected works, including links to other informative pages on the website, such as those that document the exhibitions in which these works were shown. We have started with in-depth coverage of about 25 pieces in Berry Campbell’s inventory and plan to expand to as many works as possible.Swipe for an example of these new artwork pages, featuring one of Libbie’s gorgeous #AbstractExpressionist collage paintings. Excerpt:“Mark was also a talented colorist, with an unexpected instinct for unusual combinations that achieved visual effects. #LibbieMark, known for her 1960s #AbstractExpressionist #CollagePainting technique, usually titled her works using dates and sequential numbers (No. 67-6, No. 64-5, etc). She did make a few exceptions in subject and name, some of which are very personal pieces. In this case, here are two earlier artworks that commemorate the birth grandchildren, her first and second. Despite the personal nature of the inspiration, these pieces still show stylistic features reflected in Mark’s other works from the 1950s, such as a dynamic, vertical composition, strong black graphic lines, and the utilization of the texture of the paper as a design element.
